I really do paint at times

During this current physical crash I have been relying on my sketch books to keep the withdrawal at bay. It’s not bad because drawing is instant gratification that I can do anytime, but sometimes I crave the feeling of paint, the texture, the smells, the mess. This is the first painting I have completed since my last show and is based on one of my recent sketches.

I really enjoy this technique, it’s so soft and sculptural and almost meditative. I will do each line several times to get the perfect shape and feeling from each one. It’s heavily inspired by Asian calligraphic works where each line has a purpose and each one goes into making a perfect form.

I don’t have a name for this one yet – if any of you have any suggestions for a title please share your thoughts!
