The everyday

Arg!The very last assignment is text within a piece with the theme of the everyday. I have chosen a quote that I think sums up my life pretty well at the moment: ‘pain is no evil unless it conquers usโ€œ It has given me much to think about…. I want to get a fair amount done before christmas as I will be cooking non stop over the holiday – YAY!

Commissions

They are for the woman who bought my Shoe paintings, she has commissioned me to do two more larger works with several shoes…. I have chosen to do them in Acrylic as I don’t have much experience with it as a medium and I don’t have time to wait for oils to dry enough to be packed off to Canada!… Even more importantly, I am finally beginning to Grok that it is not about loving my work or making something that everybody enjoys – it is about making art. nothing more or less.

Housework

I have put some updates on my Accident Details page following a lot of questions from people. I think it is all pretty straight forward. Scroll down to the end of the page for the most recent updates!

The first image is my interpretation of ‘street’ I am particularly, um, pleased I guess, at how it turned out, it communicates the horror of our accident very well. I was concerned about using the collage crumpled car but I think it shows the extent of the damage and how metal can be just like paper…. The second work is taking the original image and doing it in a style inspired by a specific artist (one who has also addressed โ€œstreetsโ€) This was a really obvious choice for me.

Scared!

I know its the right idea but I am afraid of doing it. Like the Pain Painting this will be another delve inside and will explore some very raw nerves. I know it is time. But I am still allowed to be afraid, Right?

10th August – Expressionist Nude

This is my latest foray into expressionism and I feel it is my best yet. The colors work well together and the subject is glossy and smooth. I HATED this when I first did it – it was too much, too different. Then I went away from it and looked at it with a new…

9th August – Silly cartoon

I only had a little time and was in a very strange mood so this is a quick cartoon self portrait. unfortunately my cartoons are better in pencil rather than charcoal but as I said, I didn’t have a whole lot o time! it is silly. it is good to be silly at times.

TV as art

My life is art, Cable TV and Internet so I am in a position to critique.Six Feet Under is Art. It makes us look at ourselves and feel glad for what we have, it makes us look at death and mortality in a non threatening way and understand it- and it makes us appreciate what goes between, the little moments.the cinematography, the colors and lack of saturation, the angles and the way it makes us see things from so many angles is compelling…. ๐Ÿ˜› I am so glad arena moved it back to weekdays – Liam hates it so I have to watch it alone.I think the faces are beautiful.Six Feet Under is pretty understandable, most people would probably agree with me…. It also presents a bleak view of our world through massive distortion and abstraction that is like looking through shards of a broken mirror.woah.Ok its funny and silly and wrong too – and that is good.
