Boundless Gallery to close it’s Virtual Doors

I don’t understand how their business model could be losing money, the overhead costs should be covered by artist payments and commissions. the paypal fees are passed onto the artists and maintenance should be minimal. however, I feel that in the last year or so Boundless has let it’s marketing slide, not tapping into social media enough or keeping their design modern and up to date. the mixed colors, fonts and styles have led to it looking sloppier, less high end.

Last Chance!

Glow – 18×18 Oils on canvas by Jennie Rosenbaum I’ve been reliably informed that I am undercharging for my pieces. by a lot. and that it is in fact detrimental to my career, not to mention that it is not particularly helpful for all my collectors. so on the first of February I am doubling…

Discovered Artists

A few months ago I was invited to be a Founding Artist of DA, invited from this blog as a matter of fact! it turns out they had been watching my performance as a best seller on BoundlessGallery for a while. you can check out my new digs at I’m very excited to be a part of this project, so far the organization, communication and website design are fantastic and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes in the future!

Will you be Drawing on Drawing Day?

One day a year, the world stops to remember that joy we had when we first picked up a pencil and created our first piece of art – that’s what Drawing Day is all about. The goal for Drawing Day is simple – to create enough drawings to make some noise worldwide for the sake of art. 2008 is the first year of this initiative. Our goal is definitely a long-shot, but we’re aiming for 1 million drawings worldwide.[From Drawing Day 2008 – about the big day ] I will be participating in Drawing Day this year, I think it’s a fantastic idea and a great incentive to get back to my roots and create for the pure joy of creating.

Boundless Changes

Boundless Gallery have undergone some more changes to their site including a family filter and the opportunity for the artists to choose their own urls…. I now have registered to go directly to my profile page. I love being able to register such cool urls with these sites, it’s good for SEO and so easy to remember.

artwork pricing changes

the glazed ochre works are going to be priced slightly higher than the regular ochre pieces because about a week’s more work goes into them. all pieces will now be on the same scale as well, before I had works on a sliding scale per inch depending on size, now all works of a certain medium are going to be the same price per inch all the way through. I am very nervous about this because you don’t want to change your pricing too often, but I think it is time to raise them slightly and to even out the pricing structure.

Feckles Down

Storm – 12×12 Oils on Canvas by Jennie Rosenbaum Luke from Boundless has Sent a message assuring me that “all nudes have not been blocked now, and never will be.

…The easy thing to do would be to give in. I am glad to say they are not doing that and I sincerely hope that it will not be the case in the future…. I was preparing to create noise of my own, I am perfectly capably of raising a real, and very public, stink- but I never wanted to aim something at the team at Boundless, I genuinely believe they do their best, they are not the people I was angry at.

tarring all nudes with the same brush

due to one explicit example that made it’s way onto the new ‘discover an artist’ feature that randomly includes artist’s images from all over the site, there is now a demand for site-wide censorship of nudes. Some have said that they should be kicked from the site entirely, others have said that they should just only appear in searches, not on the front page, Some are saying that there should be an adults only section, and others say that they should be blocked to non members…. I believe my works are family friendly and if Boundless gives into this they will be pandering to the notion that all nudes are wrong, evil and always sexual in nature .
