I’ve been reliably informed that I am undercharging for my pieces. by a lot. and that it is in fact detrimental to my career, not to mention that it is not particularly helpful for all my collectors. so on the first of February I am doubling my prices. so this is your last chance to get my paintings at their original price! get in quick! if there is a painting you have been eyeing off for a while put in an offer with the comfortable knowledge that your investment will double in a couple of days.

Back again!
Consternation – 12 x 12 Oils on Canvas
Thankyou all for your patience and well wishes over this really difficult period. we are now settled into our new place, there are still boxes and paintings stacked everywhere but it is beginning to feel more and more like home. Liam has picked up some extra hours at work and things feel like they may be finally going our way again so I am very happy. especially now that we have web access once more! I think i am addicted, having no internet access was horrible, I felt isolated and lonely and incapable of finding out the most basic things without it!
I am putting together my new studio and getting it all set up, I think it will work very well. it has better storage and sage green walls and perhaps most importantly it looks out onto a private garden, not a new unit’s front door. I think it will be an inspirational space. having spent a lot of time and money restoring the old studio in order to get our bond back, I have been putting effort into making sure we never have to do all that work again. I am covering the walls and the floor and hopefully we won’t have to repaint, resand and refinish the entire room when we move.
things are still a little hectic here but I am going to try and get back to my regular posting schedule soon. now that I have web access I can also do more than twitter my updates so I can fill you all in. thanks again for your patience during this crazy time!

2008 Achievements
A little late, here are my achievements for 2008, the things I accomplished personal and business – no matter how small!
- I held my first solo show
- I received a first place award for my artwork Freedom.
- in the first half of this financial year I have already topped the sales for the entire previous financial year
- I started working in watercolors – and loving it!
- I started playing more and more with mixed media
- I really got into 3d modeling – and my artwork has improved so much as a result.
- I attended a number of online seminars and learned a lot about online marketing
- I met some truly wonderful people including an artist I really admire – Hazel Dooney.
- I learned that it’s ok to say no to some opportunities – I don’t have to chase every one.
- I exhibited in more group shows this year than ever before
- I started tweeting!
- I covered the Bill Henson debacle from beginning to end – more, I think, than any other arts blogger. (pretty sure, I did a lot of searching)
- my husband and I reached a very big decision to start trying for a baby
- I cut out a lot of my pain killers and harmful drugs in anticipation of #13
- I reached 70 and 80 on my main! (oh yes.. I had to put in a WoW one)
- I voted. absentee votes were hard but this year the election really counted. My state was really close (when usually it isn’t) so I feel like my vote made a difference.
- I became obsessed with blindfolds and cast shadows
- my blog traffic jumped massively
- I increased my walking distance and stamina and the pain reduced as a result – I have plateaued really well and built up my strength
- I increased my tolerance for stairs, they are still very very hard, but now no longer impossible.

I’ve decided to try a little experiment. I’ve been tweeting for a while now, I really enjoy sending quick little bursts of thought out there from my phone wherever I am. so I’ve decided to start posting my tweets to my blog as well to get some crossposting happening and keep some daily personal content up here. partly this is because I fear that I have been somewhat lax in posting on my blog (last few weeks aside) but also partly because my blog is losing a personal edge to it. It’s also because I just love twitter that much. so we shall see how it goes. part of my new years plan is to consolidate a lot of my web 2.0 stuff so that I spend less time on all the individual accounts and more time on the rest of my goals. next week I will get back into posting regularly starting with my accomplishments from last year and my goals for this year. huh. “this year”.. it doesn’t feel right yet does it?
The last few weeks.
it’s been a difficult few weeks. stuff has been happening to disrupt our lives at the moment and I have not been coping as well as I would hope. we still don’t have a home to move to and we have to be out in two and a half weeks. rental occupancy is at an all time low and every open for inspection is swarming with prospective tenants. my husband’s hours have been cut back drastically and we are having a hard time making ends meet. despite all of this I have managed to host a large family christmas, recapture my christmas spirit and joy and to enjoy the holiday period. I have been able to catch up with good friends, family and to really enjoy the holiday (all the while telling myself that I couldn’t look for houses anyway with all the estate agents closed – so I may as well have fun!)
I still believe in christmas. not the religious aspects, but the sense of unity and joy that this season brings. I believe in miracles and in making a new start. I believe in renewing hope and in getting together with the people you love and focussing on only that. spreading joy and happiness as much as possible.
I am sure our problems will resolve themselves. they always do. I am such a control freak that I tend to work as hard as I can to bring about a resolution. I will make this happen.
Thankyou all for being patient with me. I am sorry this is such a downer post, I wanted to share with you the reasons why I can’t focus on blogging or even painting. I expect things will resolve soon. thankyou all
