I realized I don’t tend to do things in cool colors.. I wonder why that is? So I had a play again with this technique in cool colors cos.. well.. I should I guess. I don’t mind this one but I think I may have overthought it a little.. it seems to have lost some energy. Maybe it’s the cool colors 😉 I like the cross hatching around the face and under the bust on the outside and the way the hair turned out. but I am not nuts about some of the anatomy and the face. the hands were fun, but then.. hands are always fun!

I have some smaller scale canvasses and am going to do some smaller works. just for fun. Another thing I learned from the group show was that I wasn’t playing around enough I got a little stuck on what I thought I should do rather than going with the flow. It’s good to experiment with color, texture, tone and different techniques. abstraction and distortion are fun. I am definitely going to be playing more. I have a show theme in mind, but mostly it will evolve over time rather than being pushed. It will be unified by theme and texture but both categories are sufficiently large enough for plenty of variety.
