New Poll

As you know, for the last show I didn’t post my images and my thoughts on them, hoping to create an air of mystery or something….. did you miss my usual rants and musings about pieces that will be in the show?… anyway, I’ve created a poll on my Boundless website you can visit here.

Children exposed to nudes.

Even though parents have to approve out-of-school trips for their children, at least one apparently didn’t realize what an art museum might have on display…. The poor child – who no doubt has seen Brittney, Jessica and many other “stars” cavorting in next to nothing on TV – was badly traumatized by the experience and the parent complained. Editorial: A lesson in the art of pleasing parents | The Bryan-College Station Eagle: This sort of thing drives me crazy.

On The Edge

Do you ever feel like you are on the edge of something important?… The problem is that I am excited but worried – what if I don’t or can’t do whatever it is I obviously need to do? what if this thing that is going to happen doesn’t because I am afraid, or too sore or something?

New Toy!

As I am doing some online selling, working hard on my online presence, and starting to approach galleries for representation I need top notch presentation…. So, based on recommendations from photographers and much research I have bought the Panasonic DMC FZ7…. It’s one of these cameras that has great automatic facilities and does great work for minimal effort but I also have the opportunity to work completely manually and add different filters and stuff so I think it will be flexible enough for my needs now, and later on. mmm, America’s Next Top Model is on now, an all new season!

Is Nudity still Titillating?

Indeed, art (and the inherent beauty of art forms) remains the most vivid example of nudity’s ability to move artistic mediums to new levels…. Admittedly, my work is not designed for shock value, it’s more a beauty and sensuality thing, but if we lose our wonder at seeing things then that can only be detrimental to art. When we are bombarded with images, we start to filter them out in our heads, if that starts to happen with nudity – will we miss out on some of the great pleasures in life?… as the filters start growing there may be more room rather than less for broader images of nudity, an opportunity to stand out from the plasticized perfect images to provide the reality that audiences crave..

Posting delays

Looking over my archives, I realize that I skip saturday and sunday quite a lot. this oten has adverse effects on my traffic and doesn’t really look good – even if it is predictable…. One of the problems of extended blogging is that posts get buried after a while, so I will be highlighting posts and looking at inspiration and stuff as well.

Winds of Change Re-dux

🙄 What a mutant I am, I made a really stupid mistake with my website update – it just goes to show what pain can do to the brain.. anyway, all fixed now. Check it out and let me know what you think! Tags: artist, gallery, website

Back I go again…

*sigh* My swelling is up so high I feel like I am lying on a hot water bottle…. I wouldn’t mind but I am already planning my next one and I have ideas pouring out of my….. I don’t know what I would do without my little sketch book, when the pain gets so bad I want to cry I pick up my book and pencil and escape for a while.

No No Nanette: No Girls in the Guggenheim?

Where The Girls Aren’t by Jerry Saltz: The programmatic exclusion of women is partly attributable to the art world’s being a self-replicating organism: It sees that the art that is shown and sold is made mainly by men, and therefore more art made by men is shown and sold. This is how the misidentification, what Adorno called a “negative system,” is perpetuated.I have been watching the trends on this with alarm, it is a true fact that women are under-represented in the art industry…. maybe we need to set aside our fears and worries about our babies and send them off to the galleries with a packed lunch, cry and then be proud that something we gave birth to is doing so well.

The Winds of Change Mark II

I’ve done some further changes to my template to make them work a little better and I definitely think I will be buying CSS editing sometime soon. Mostly however, I have started the changes for my website – my gallery is completely different, with sorting by series rather than topic. I have also done away…
