Vanity 14×10 Oils on Canvas by Jennie I enjoy commission pieces. they give me an opportunity to do something different from the norm. to stretch my creative brain in new directions to come up with something fresh. it can be so easy to stagnate but a commission is a chance to do something out of…

New Untitled Nude

Untitled – 12×10 Oils on Canvas by Jennie working small is a great opportunity to work on composition and finding the heart of a piece. with limited space I need to work maximum impact – it’s a great way to get the creative juices flowing. I thing I’ve needed some boundaries to my working to…

Slump

I’ve been spending time re-organizing the house for the demolition to start on the unit in behind. we’ve had to clear our garage of everything which has required some serious changes to the layout of the house and some creative organization solutions! I’ve taken the opportunity to re-organize my studio as well and now I don’t seem to want to leave.

Updates

I’ve updated me website with all the latest news. The new iWeb has changed the gallery format but I think I like it. I miss lightbox and my htaccess mods but this is very effective.

Changing Seasons

Changing seasons always screw me around. last fall was appalling and I’m getting knocked around this spring as well. I wouldn’t mind so much but I’ve been working really hard to prepare and increase my strength and I’m still struck down.

It’s Best to be Nude in a Group

I have the pleasure of administrating and moderating Redbubble’s first and only (at this stage) nude art group. Groups are a new feature to Redbubble but they have fast become a favorite place to showcase the best artwork across the board.

Finally! the finished Crawl.

This piece has taken almost a year to finish. it’s been the most stubborn painting I have ever created and I’ve shed a few tears of frustration over it I don’t mind admitting. The good news is that I learned a lot while doing it, small things like not working with a rapidly drying impasto in the heat of summer, and that I can make a piece work if I persevere, even if it takes a year!I also got to experiment with a lot of different media in trying to make this one work, I learned a lot that I will be able to apply to other works. In the end it was the water soluble pastels that worked and I really enjoyed the different effects they could create.I don’t know if I will ever love it, but I am proud to have finished it and I have learned a lot in the process- that makes it important in my book!

Is my Face Red? President Bush Covered in Porn

The Bush Library in America commissioned Jonathan Yeo (British portraitist, very establishment, surprisingly impish face) to do George Junior, then backed out. In umbrage, Yeo then did the portrait anyway, fashioning the face of the Potus from a collage of porn mags.Guardian Unlimited: Arts blog – art: Yeo’s portrait of Bush has no meaning:This portrait is actually stunning, seen from afar it is new and edgy while maintaining excellent likeness and emotion.
