Reflections

Its more or less permanent- I am still working hard on it to make it less rather than more, but I have accepted it and it is now part of my life – I am working with it rather than against it…. These all seem like superficial examples but what they are are symbols of the new person I am becoming and the new peace I am finding within myself. I am working hard to take care of myself with a new pain management program starting soon, and I am trying not to put myself down so much.

The Truth about Artists?

I found this rather amusing article on a routine surfing trip. I think it may have something in a few spots! plus I love the images – People who know my darling little kitten might be interested in her starring in a new work at the bottom of the page. well her or her identical…

Cinderella

Cinderella Image by Jennie (c). This painting was based on a photo I took of Bre that just stole my heart. The technique is one I am coming to enjoy more and more – the same turps washing technique I used in Redhead. Initially I was concerned about how this was coming along. it looked…

Jinx!

I am working on a new painting at the moment, it is based on a photograph of Breana I took on an off chance. Its more contemporary rather than classical but I am enjoying the feeling that is starting to emerge. I haven’t had a whole lot of strength lately as the examination last week…

Cartoons as art addition

The Guatemalan Insanity Peppers Episode of the Simpsons is currently on. This is unequivocally my favorite episode and has been for years. Cartoons as art

The obvious choices of Fantasia and Snow white come to mind but I think that more recent animation such as Ren and Stimpy with its beautiful kitschy retro art stylings, Invader Zim with…

Let it All Hang Out

A great article in the Guardian on the Male Nude: “Today, probably nothing so alienates us from the high art of the European past as its most prestigious subject – the male nude. Visit any old European museum, from Naples to Bloomsbury, and they have more marble statues of disrobed gods and heroes than they…

Breakthrough!

Breana Image by Jennie (c). I had a breakthrough and revised the textiles completely in a massive paint attack! I am now very happy with the textiles – they have weight and are hanging well. Bre is almost completely done now, I want to tidy the edges and brighten a couple of highlights but she…

WIP- Bre final stage

Bre Image by Jennie (c). I have almost finished with Bre now, I need to add a touch more tiny highlights and a bit more work on the background but then she will be done! I will be quite happy when i have finished her up, its been a while since I’ve worked in a…

Almost Done!

WIP – Bre Image by Jennie (c). I got some really great work done on Bre yesterday. I started in on the fine detail – she has eyelids! the feather still needs some building and I want to soften her face a little. I need to refine her inner sleeves some more and do some…
