New Nude – Cold

my painting has been sporadic but effective this week. I’ve finished glazing the blindfold on this piece, and painted a highly psychological piece in a marathon session that left me drained and very sick.

Many of my pieces are missing faces…. usually I have obscured them or edited them from the composition. I’ve been thinking for a while on it, and I wanted to bring my facelessness to the next level and make them more confrontational.I work faceless for a number of reasons.

The ‘unglamorous’ display which includes support material from anti-drunk driving organizations counters“the disturbingly glamorized trend of Hollywood’s ‘girls gone wild’,” according to gallery director, David Kesting.Paris Hilton, arrested for a DUI last year, previously released a marginally effective PSA concerning drunk driving. This latest PSA includes a website by Capla Kesting, which offers high school educators an icebreaker for discussing drunk driving’s consequences.

This is one of the pieces I have been working on lately. the figure is complete but I will be adding a glazed element to the painting in full color…. I could see it in my head every time i closed my eyes but I was afraid to work without a model and proper lighting.

The other night I came home from a party where I had enjoyed much art geeking and looking at amazing works. well, after all that I had no choice but to paint – it was a physical need so I practically ran into the studio at 2:30am pausing only to grab my iPod.
