When I am feeling a bit uninspired or not quite myself I find its best to do some technical studies and experiment with new poses and see if an idea forms. It works quite well, not only refining my technique but also always giving me new ideas.
This sketch was a bit of a technical study into the musculature involved in lunging and crunching over. I love this technique as I seem to be constantly inspired by the use of negative and positive light. Its hell on my erasers but worth it – luckily both erasers and charcoal are cheap.
I am going to be doing more sketches and will be offering them for sale on etsy or eBay. I am not sure which one yet. The prices will be quite reasonable, I am just running out of room and would like some dough to buy more art supplies! stay tuned for details here
