Charcoal Portrait

This is a portrait of a little boy. I thought his little face was beautiful. This was basically to see if I can still do portraits and I think the answer is yes. I like the dark rough background – it contrasts with the softness of his pretty face. I have charcoal in my lungs.…

Male Charcoal Sketch

I am officially over putting the date in the title – what a waste of time! it shows the date on the blog anyway so I am not going to bother anymore. This is a 5 minute sketch of a male nude in charcoal (obviously). I didn’t want to do a blended charcoal image so…

Folio

I have finally finished my photography final folio. Kmart’s digital printing service sucks but I have my photos. I also leaned too late that my hoopy printer doesn’t need special cartridges to print really good photographs and I could have saved myself the trouble but oh well. I printed a nice cover for my folio.…

Blah

It seems that a lot of people are feeling blah – I have been reading friends blogs, and strangers blogs, and talking to people and blah is the word of the week…. Unfortunately today’s weather sucked so they are really dim and not particularly good…. monash uni sounds like a good subject to do a series of photographs from – but in reality it sucked.

PostSecret

PostSecretA most excellent community project. Touching, sad, morbid and frequently funny. it is very worth looking at the postcards.

10th August – Expressionist Nude

This is my latest foray into expressionism and I feel it is my best yet. The colors work well together and the subject is glossy and smooth. I HATED this when I first did it – it was too much, too different. Then I went away from it and looked at it with a new…

9th August – Silly cartoon

I only had a little time and was in a very strange mood so this is a quick cartoon self portrait. unfortunately my cartoons are better in pencil rather than charcoal but as I said, I didn’t have a whole lot o time! it is silly. it is good to be silly at times.

TV as art

My life is art, Cable TV and Internet so I am in a position to critique.Six Feet Under is Art. It makes us look at ourselves and feel glad for what we have, it makes us look at death and mortality in a non threatening way and understand it- and it makes us appreciate what goes between, the little moments.the cinematography, the colors and lack of saturation, the angles and the way it makes us see things from so many angles is compelling…. 😛 I am so glad arena moved it back to weekdays – Liam hates it so I have to watch it alone.I think the faces are beautiful.Six Feet Under is pretty understandable, most people would probably agree with me…. It also presents a bleak view of our world through massive distortion and abstraction that is like looking through shards of a broken mirror.woah.Ok its funny and silly and wrong too – and that is good.
