I am writing this from my mobile in bed (so excuse the lack of formatting!). I won’t be able to post properly for a while as i had a very bad fall and am now completely bed-bound. Needless to say i am very mad at myself! Liam has been great, he has moved the TV, DVD and PS2 into the bedroom and we have been passing the time watching movies and playing games. As i don’t have a whole lot to write about, here is a brief review of some of the movies we have seen.. The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou: i thought this would be fun and surreal. mostly it was crappy and surreal. I liked the wierd animals and sea creatures which gave it a very unreal aspect and the boat setpiece. That was about it. The Phantom of the Opera: I was dying to see this and then was disappointed.. The sound editing was terrible making many songs very muddy. It was directed well and the story was well laid out and quite faithful to the stage production but the casting really let it down. Christine was ok, Raoul was ok, the owners were ok, but the phantom was terrible. I would have thought they would have picked someone who could sing… He needs to be compelling and sexy and the music is really what brings it to the fore. i felt none of that. The actor was good, but he just wasn’t a phantom. The last one was Vanity Fair: i love Reese Whitherspoon and i thought it would be a witty period piece about a girl who rises above adversity. It turned out to be long, depressing and pretty much pointless. Now, i don’t want this to be one of those blogs where the writer whinges constantly about her problems, so this will probably be my last post for a while, until i am up and running again. Or until i have an amazing and profound arty thought.. you never know- I have lots of time to think right now!
