Slack slack slack

I dont know if they are working yet but it is probably too soon to tell.I have a new HUUUGE canvas (it doesn’t really fit on my easle) but I dinna know what to put on it.This raises the question Liam asked me when I was working on my vietnamese musician…. maybe it reminds them of someone or something or a time in their lives – or maybe they just like the face…. I love faces and what they tell about the person beneath, but I think they are not where I want to be right now.

Oo Dark

Ok. I don’t know where I was when I painted this. No honestly this is so different from anything I have ever done before. I think it is very very dark and brooding but the bizarre thing in this piece is the technique. It is actually a charcoal drawing technique I have used. You know…

Pink Nude – No idea what to call her yet.

This is just a quick photo but I think the image isn’t too bad. What I was after with this was fluidity of shape and to make the skin glow. The location of the light source made it tricky but allowed for some really interesting experimentation of shading and color. My shadows are usually very…

The urge takes over

Over the past few days I have been going cray painting. I made Liam go out today to get me more canvasses because I was all out and needed a fix…. its like heroin.anyway.Both paintings are completely different from each other and anything I have ever done before.I don’t have titles for them yet – to be honest both of them took me completely by surprise.I welcome comments, critiques, title suggestions – whatever!

I see the Light!!

no really it’s the name of my latest assignment. I got up at dawn today full of hope and excitement looking forward to taking the first of many shots exploting the light on an object in glen waverley.. no I didn’t actually, I left the bed kicking and screaming. urg the things we do for…

Showtunes

Stacy’s Musical Village I found this site looking around for the libretto for “you’re a good man Charlie Brown” and thought it was worth advertising…. it is a happy making thing – and sometimes a maudlin making thing (especially with Les Mis!)… mostly I am listening to Charlie Brown, Les Mis, Jekyll and Hyde, Producers, Avenue Q and lots o Sondheim.

How Vintage!

Wired News: Vintage Video Games Go Highbrow Some people are debating the worth of vintage games for art subjects but i submit that it is an original treatment and one that will resonate well with children and geeks alike. the artworks are good and interesting and vintage toys have been a long standing subject so it makes sense as we move into the future that the theme of toys is updated to reflect “newer” pastimes…. I have been asked when I am painting again, I am cooking up some ideas in my head but currently the pain is too much to work through – I am hopeful for soon though!

Affordable Art Show

I went to the Affordable Art Show with mom yesterday, not only did we have some great conversations on the way and way back where we talked candidly, she was most supportive and I feel better for everything we talked about…. I was highly impressed by a series of concert images (exhibited by Bus) which had an amazing energy, the use of color and the individual tiny portraits that all had character…. But anyway, the wierdest thing of all was that mom and I would look at a piece and she would ask about the techniques involved, the imagery and why she liked a piece.

Just because everyone else is doing it…

You expect the very best from people which takes the form of enthusiastic encouragement which is so charming that people try their best not to disappoint you…. You need to feel a deep and meaningful connection to your romantic partners, and go to great lengths to understand and please your mate…. However, you are very insightful about the underlying cause of conflicts, and an excellent communicator, so you have the tools to bring about a quick and peaceful resolution as long as you can keep control of your facilities.

Waarrg!

Believe it or not, but the Eddie Maguire one was really great, I guess because you could barely see his face…. I remember Years ago they hosted major installations, paintings and one really amazing historical toy exhibition…. I guess I am a little sad, the MGA is the premiere gallery in the SE suburbs and it is limiting itself to only photographic works?
