The Simpsons have been responsible for many notable artwork references over the years, Several are quite fabulous but this is the first time that I have noticed a reference to a current contemporary artist…. This screen grab from the episode “All’s Fair in Oven War” seems to be a pretty strong reference to the artwork of Shag. Shag’s work is quite iconographic and strongly reminiscent of the design styles of the 60s and 70s.

I’ve had some of their gear printed before and the quality is nice but I want to take it to the next level so I am working on creating designs based on their photoshop templates and the design on my website that is rapidly becoming my Visual identity…. Its going to cost but it’s worth doing it when the sales are on!I have been pondering visual identity and appearances. I am not sure if it is the same in the art industry but in business a strong visual identity can work very well.
