Quick Studies

Hoist Image by Jennie (c). Fence Image by Jennie (c). A couple of quick studies while I work out some of my assignments. I need to map my site. for me that means my terribly exciting back yard. I have been working with watercolor a little and while I was unhappy with my technique, I…

Marketing

My new printed marketing materials have arrived and I am very excited. I am nervous too but I think it will be a good thing. I have started making a list up, getting contacts together and the like – its funny really, I hated marketing so much when I had to do it for someone…

Well!

After my rant I did feel a lot better, thankyou to all those wonderful people who emailled me to let me know I had their support, it makes me feel good inside to know I have such good friends. I have been busy this past week and a bit. I have been busy not dwelling…

Completed – Untitled

Untitled Image by Jennie (c). I have finally finished this work. Actually, the main limitation to putting this up was getting the proper light for the photograph. It has a higher sheen than many of my works so all of my shots had a high amount of sheen. Today is overcast which presents the perfect…

Too Busy

I have had a busy time and have not updated my blog. I have finished my painting and varnished it, now I just await a good tome to photograph it. A number of shows have sent me their information and I have to sift through it all and decide what to send and get my…

Back we go again

Another physical setback on the glacier ride that is my life…. So my original idea of a charcoal drawing or pastel painting brimming with pathos isn’t really going to cut it. oh well I can revisit a more traditional depiction when I do the Smart inspited version.

Street.

I have chosen Smart (surprise surprise) because I love his work and I feel that his urban landscapes resonate well with my impression of the word ‘street’I find this sort of thing very difficult indeed…. then I move into street art which is much more fun and something I enjoy (yes I do believe it is free expression – no I do not like tagging) but is quite out of my league. I experimented with it when I was 12 and 13 like everyone but I don’t really have the knack (I was better at bubble writing) I also think of Heinlein and his rolling roads.I think this work needs to be fairly simple to lend impact.

Body in Space

it needed to have anomaly of scale and each piece needed to further refine the composition and solidify the body in the environment. I felt a need to choose a view from one of my Europe photos (for no reason other than I wanted an interesting space) and some photos I took of Liam after my fall a month or two ago.I was really worried about this assignment as I felt I had overreached in the space for the size (8cm x 10cm!)… Have been working on my exhibition proposal for early next year and thinking about where I want to take the next one.

Body Parts

unexpected, but interesting. The Next assignment will be to complete a series of 3 small drawings with the body in space. exxaggerated and out of scale but in a space, landscape/architectural, real/imagined, doesn’t matter as long as it is a body in the space…. that will be tomorrows task, I am thinking of using some of my photographs from Europe as landscape inspirations as some are very interesting and unusual.
