Languid – 18×36 Acrylic and gesso on Canvas by Jennie
As a break from the rather dark ochre pieces I have been painting, I have delved, once again, into my impasto pieces. these two seem to be almost polar opposites now- complex and moody versus minimalism and joy. it works well as I have similar dichotomies inside myself- a war of opposites. I think there is room for both, and both techniques enhance the other.
this is more relaxed than some of my white pieces, more rounded and soft. the underpainting is more complex again. I find I am viewing the piece in my head as I paint, so the underpainting is starting to complement the finished piece, rather than just be random colors and abstractions. what do you think?
